At the moment these are the two brands of top and base coats I am using.
I thought I'd do a comparison of the two: Revlon's colour stay base and top coat (seperate) and OPI's 3 in 1 top, base and strengthener.
In Aus the OPi polish is priced $24.90 and each of the Revlon's about $15 and although I expected OPi to have the lead in which polish I prefer I actually must say that I prefer Revlon out of these options.
The OPI t&b although works well with the OPI formular, I found to be very tricky to apply, especially with darker colours. I found that even when I waited for my colours to dry completely, that the brush would still take some of the colour with it when applying the top coat. Definitely a bad point for me as as you can tell, especially after using deep reds, the clearness of the polish begins to fad.
Revlon on the other hand I found to be way better than I expected. I haven't tried the non colour stay variety of the t&b but the colour stay ones were amazing. I found them to work best with Revlon of course but they still performed really well with alternate brands. And if you are not familiar with the colourstay brush it was amazing to use, so easy! It's like 2 brushes in 1!
I am actually really impressed with the colourstay line Revlon has put out. Thumbs up Yey!
Just quickly, I found the Revlon base coat to be so much thicker and more protective than the OPI duo. Although this could be due to the fact that the OPI one is in a duo, but I found that I've started just using the OPI as a top and not a base coat at all as I prefer the Revlon base by far.
So basically if you want to find a cheaper alternate for a top and base coat(and I know in the states it's a lot cheaper), give the Revlon colourstay polishes ago :)

NOTD- Mrs Oleary's BBQ
The myth, the legend!
This was one of my first OPI polishes alongside Over the Taup and is definitely the reason I started collecting nail polishes all those years ago.
OPIs MOB is a gorgeous deep almost vampy red that is perfect for those cooler, overcast days.
I must admit, I bought this colour purely because I thought this was a typical 40-year-old-woman-at-a-posh-BBQ colour and although I still think that I really love the classy ness that I feel when wearing it.
Application was a bit rusty as I need a new bottle but overal this one applies smoothly in two coats :)
What's your all time favourite?

NOTD- Raspberry Rapture
This is Revlon's #350 raspberry rapture. It is one of their scented nail polishes and although I've had it for a while and pick it up every time I go to paint my nails, it's a colour that always ends up getting skipped over in favour of some of my newer polishes. In saying that this colour is one that I love. I love the near red but not quite appearance and the scent lingers about for a good day or two.
Pictured with a base, 2 coats of polish and a top coat I found this one really easy to apply. It dried almost instantly and I found myself being able to do coats simultaneously as the previous would have dried by the time I had finished both hands.
Definitely love this one. I'll have to keep that in mind every time I chose another colour over it.
I'm not sure if you can still get the scented polishes now, but this is the only one I tried out of the collection. Have you guys tried any? Like? Dislike?
